Shopping - St David's Ladies Night

Last night was Ladies Night at St David's in Cardiff, which meant late night shopping, lots of offers and discounts and a VIP blogger area laid on in Pizza Express! Lots of fun was had, but I'm too tired now to write a big post so I shall just show you what I bought!

I got a stunning necklace from Bijou Brigitte (my easter present from my parents) but you will have to wait until I wear it for a photo as I couldn't find one on line.
Apart from that I got these!
Crabtree and Evelyn La Source Conditioner £7 (but 15% off)
Collection 2000 Extreme Lasting Liner in Teal and Purple £2.99 each (part of 3 for 2 and 10% off)
Bourjois Smoky Eye Trio in Baroque £7.99 (Boot's 3 for 2 and 10% off)
Maybelline Colour Sensation Lipstick in Fatal Red #530 £7.19 (part of Boot's 3 for 2 and 10% off)
Oasis Scenic Print Dress £50 (Had 20% off and a £25 gift card c/o St David's so only paid £15)

I know its not like me to buy many beauty things, but I got rid of a load of old items in favour of some new nicer ones! I shall be putting up some reviews of them soon! And no doubt will be wearing my new dress lots soon!

Did anyone else attend the St David's Ladies Night?

We ate in a lovely little chinese called Hon Fusion and then had drinks in Giraffe before I took the train home. Recipe - Ham in Coke (slow cooker)

The much talked about ham in cola recipe!
We took ours from the Jamie Oliver cook book (altered slightly for our taste) and did the first part of the recipe in the slow cooker.

Serves 2-4 depending on size of meat.
Time: 15 min prep in total, 3-5 hours slow cooker, 25 min oven
Image Via because I forgot a decent photo!!

Ingredients

3 kg unsmoked Ham or Gammon (I just had a gammon joint from the butcher)

4 litres Cola (or just enough to fill slow cooker after meat added, we only needed 2 litres. DO NOT USE Diet Coke! There have been reports of it exploding!! I kid you not!)

1 Onion, quartered

2 Star Anis
4 Cloves (optional, I didn't use them)

4 Black Peppercorns (Optional, I didn't use them)

1 tsp cinnamon

1 tsp ground ginger

1 tblsp Soy Sauce

1 tblsp mustard (Any)

2 tblsp demerara sugar

4tblsp runny honey

1. If you know your meat is salty you will need to place in a saucepan with cold water and bring to boil for 5 mins to get rid of salt. If not salted (our butcher one wasn't) just rinse under some cold water first.

2. Place meat in slow cooker with onion, star anise and peppercorn (if using) and cover with coke. Set on low for 5 hours or high for 3. (You can also do this step on a hob, just place in a big pot, bring to boil then heat on very low for 3 hours with a tightly fitted lid)

3. Remove the meat and place on a plate to cool a little. Discard all the coke liquid.

4. Pre heat oven to 170 C.

5. Cut slices into the top of the meat a cm or 2 down and press in cloves (if using. in a checked pattern. Still cut even if not using cloves, it helps the glaze soak in)

6. Mix the Soy Sauce, Mustard, Demerary Sugar, Ground Ginger, Cinnamon, and runny honey in a bowl, give it a really good stir till well mixed.

7. Brush over entire meat. Put meat in roasting tin and roast for 25 mins (I brushed the juiced from the tin over the top again half way through).

8. Remove from oven, top should now be sticky. Slice and serve with your choice of veggies or in a sandwich!

Top Tip: You can also add some veggies to the roaster while roasting the meat so they get the yummy sticky glaze too! I added carrots and red pepper, and just gave them a good stir to cover them in the sticky sauce too.

I would give the recipe a 5 star! it is really easy to do and really yummy! Well worth the 3-5 hours wait!

If you give it a go let me know?

Anyone else tried a Ham in coke recipe? What did you think?

Outfit Post - Irish Green

Just a quick outfit post from last week for you today.

Although St Paddy's Day was on the 17th, O'Neills started the celebrations on the 13th with and Irish jig to help raise money for Cash for Kids and get people excited about St Paddy's Day. So me and Jon were taking photos of the event and filming it for the company. Here is what I wore.
Top: H&M
Vest: Dimri swap from Tia
Jeans: Warehouse (via PDSA)
Boots: Firetrap
Hairband: Random shop in Canada
Bangles: China

If you want to see the pictured of the Jig there are a few on Jon's blog. The girls were brilliant and the event was lots of fun.

Anyone else tried Irish Dancing? They are staring adult classes and I quite fancy it! Am I mad?

Blog Sale

Well the wardrobe organise/downsize begun yesterday and I feel I did quite well for a start. Now what you don't know about me is that I hate cleaning. Any form! Cleaning and tidying is a pain and I get bored quickly! I like stuff hygienic in the clean sense but I hate tidying up and will usually only get half a job done, or Jon does it. So a massive sort like my wardrobe is a huge task for me as my attention span is about 45mins! So I have set myself little goals each day in the hope I will actually get the whole thing done in the next 2 weeks.

So far I have done all my underwear, and chucked a whole carrier bag of that out, and my tops and dresses on my hanging rail. I have 3 hanging rails in the bedroom, 2 in the office, and loads of drawers! All full to capacity and this needs to change! At the moment the rails in the bedroom look like this! FULL!!
The bottom right is Jons! I don't think them being full will change, no matter how much I get rid of I'm pretty sure they will still be full, but my plan is just to sort and organise them, to get rid of old stuff and stuff I don't wear. Plus I have a huge storage box in my office that I don't use, so intend to pack a pile of stuff I don't use much into that, so I can re discover it in a few months time and switch it for other items. I figure there is very little in my wardrobe that I would truly miss and couldn't live without so storing some of it for a few month, will be no loss, but will save space!

Enough said about that here is the first blog sale post of many that I will be doing over the next few weeks as i will be purging as much as I can.
Just comment here or email/tweet me if you want to buy anything but I will only accept paypal payments. The prices include postage in the UK but I will post internationally just ask me for a postage amount.
