Friend Friday: Blogging Awards

It's Friday again! Hectic week as always so lack of posts, but I finally got round to shooting some outfits so I will be posting them soon. I am working super long shifts again this weekend so I won't get up a post Sat or Sunday I doubt. But then I get 5 days off!!! Yay!!! Off to visit my best friends Heather in Sheffield. So expect some pictures from 'up't'north'.

Anyway enough rambling...todays FBFF post is the start of a new fun FBFF project - Our Awards! Yay! We have 10 categories - and each FBFF girl can nominate one other blog for each category. Katy Rose will collate all the results and open the voting to everyone to chose the winners of our FBFF Awards,(Did that make sense!? I hope so) it's like the oscars, without the emotional thank you speeches, although I'm sure that could be arranged, lol.

1. Creative Juices - Most Creative
I can think of no one more creative than Linda of Little Tin Soldier. Her outfits are sweet and simple but her real creative talent comes from her lovely outfit illustrations.

2. The Real Deal - Authenticity
This has to go to Laura of A Daisy Chain Dream she is honest and always herself. She doesn't try to style herself like anyone else, or be like anyone else and is completely down to earth.

3. Spark Notes - Most Helpful
I think Leia of Leia's Delights has done some great informative posts. Whether it be blogging, shopping, beauty or cooking her posts are always helpful and well written.

4. Newbie - Best Blogger (less than a year old)
I have recently found Linley of Dwelling and Telling. I love this girls effortlessly, casual chic style. And I was shocked when I realised she had been blogging for less than a year. Her blog is beautifully designed, her outfits are great and her posts entertaining and informative. She has gained a following fast which is testament to her talent.

5. Can You Hear Me Now - Most Connected
The wonderful Bon Bon Rose Girls have to be the most connected bloggers ever, not only with other bloggers but also with some great online companies. I have found so many other great bloggers and made some great friends thanks to their Rosebud Network

6. If I had a Hammer - Best DIY
I adore P.S.-I Made This. This girl is a creative genius. She takes inspiration from the catwalk and magazines and comes up with some amazing bang on trend DIY projects. And her tutorials are always so simple and easy to follow. They are great for some beginner projects.

7. Tribe Leader - Blogger who leads others and brings bloggers together
This has to go to our Katy Rose! The organiser and brains behind the whole FBFF experience, she has brought together so many different and diverse bloggers from all over the world. She deserves a medal!

8. Practically Perfect - most fashionable
Oh this is a hard one because 'Fashionable' is a very subjective term. But for me a fashionable person is someone who looks comfortable and confident in what they are wearing. Who knows how to dress for their shape and lets their personality shine through. It doesn't matter if they have an all black wardrobe or one with colours and patterns bursting out of every seam as long as they suit what they are wearing and they own the look. So all that being said I nominate Lyddie of Chic on the Cheap. I love this girls style! She is always smiling and confident in her outfits and she dresses in such a colourful and stylish way. She knows how to pair items and what suits her style and figure the best.

9. Paint by Numbers - best beauty blogger
I am personally not big into beauty blogging, so I'm not too interested or clued-up on blogs dedicated solely to beauty. But that being said I do love Sailor Jennie of Sailboat, she does beauty, fashion and stunning photography. And she is so cute and sweet.

10. Renaissance Woman - best all around blogger, fashion, beauty, lifestyle
I love Krystal of Village. Her punchy daily posts are quick reads that I never miss. She covers absolutely everything, great fashion finds, household buys, daily life, video clips and other great blog posts. She has style, great taste and an eye for detail plus a great sense of humour. Check her out!!
To see all the other FBFF girls nominating check out Modly Chic as always. Do you have any great blogs you would like to give a shout out to? Any suggestions of new blogs for me to read?

30 for 30 - Day 7

My gosh it's Tuesday already? Where the heck did the weekend go? Where the heck has February gone? It's nearly over! And I'm only posting Day 7, naught me. I shall be doubling up on some outfits over the next few days hopefully as I will actually have some time to snap some photos. But here is Day 7 and a second outfit using the challenge dress my best friend Heather sent down for me to style. This time it's a bit more casual.
Outfit made up of: 2+8+29
2. H&M
8. Dorothy Perkins
29. Unbranded
+
Leather wrap belt off Matalan dress
Handmade necklace from vintage beads
NewLook Earrings
Claire's Hairband and bracelet
I love this simple wrap belt. It came on a Matalan dress a few years ago and I have used it to cinch in practically everything that has needed it.
These cute blue loops have tiny pink butterflies suspended in them. They are from NewLook but are old as I have had them since I was about 14!
So there you have another remix of my blue challenge dress, what do you think of this one? I promise I shall attempt to style the 3rd challenge piece, the dreaded bright pink shirt!!
Sorry for such a brief post, it is actually 2.26am and I have just gotten in from work (it was dull, but I got a glass splinter in my right index finger so I can't type with it, making typing hard and awkward) But if I don't do the post now, you won't get one for another day as tomorrow is a busy day! Second house viewing to measure!! and sign contracts!! And then Post Office and some other errands. Fun!

Dont forget to sign up to The Shopping Forecast for your chance to win some stunning designer and high-street clothing. I won in November you could too.

I promise I have some interesting post coming up soon!

Friend Friday: Body image

It's Friday! Which sadly for me usually means the start of work. Luckily this weekend isn't a match weekend so I am doing normal shifts. Friday also means Friend Friday!! yay! This week we tackle a bit of a touchy subject. Body Image. How we feel about the way we look and what we do about it. Here are my answers and as always check out Modly Chic for all the other lovely ladies involved!

1. Since you started blogging has your image of yourself changed?
I have actually become more acceptant of my body image the more I have blogged and the more outfit posts I do. I was very slim until I was 18 then I piled on a lot of weight which I was originally very unhappy about. But I had dieted and nothing had happened so I figured I'm probably just meant to be this size. Posting pictures of myself on my blog was a big thing for me, as I was conscious about being bigger than I used to be. But after receiving some great encouragement and so many lovely comments off people I have become more than happy with my current body image. It has been great for my confidence! So thank you all for the comments.
2. Are you self-conscious about any aspect of yourself? If so, do you go out of your way to avoid it or do you post it/talk about it anyway?
Hmm, my thighs are too big, as is my tummy and I don't like my teeth, lol. But these things don't really bother me that much anymore as I have learnt to dress myself to hide/flatter these areas. I have fallen in love with 50's dresses and skirts as they look best on my figure, so I don't so much avoid these areas they just no longer factor into the equation. And I smile without my teeth, if I can help it. I tend to look sweet and innocent when I do it, lol. So it all suits me very well. I will happily talk about the aspect of me I am unhappy with, as you can see, I just don't really think about it that often and don't think other people would want to hear about it, except in situations like this.
3. Based on how you are feeling now, what do you think the future holds in the evolution of your body image?
Umm...ok that's kinda hard. I will always want to be slimmer I think, until I actually do lose the weight, or at least some weight. I am happy with my body at the moment, but would maybe be a little happier if I was my size 10 again. So I am not really sure what the future holds. I have a wedding in September that I am a bridesmaid for so would like to be a bit slimmer for that, but if the weight doesn't drop then I shant worry. The dresses are being made we get to chose the style, so I'm gonna stick with my 50's silhouette, and I know it will look great no matter what size I am!
4. Do you photograph yourself for your blog? If so, how do you feel about the experience when you're having your picture taken? If you choose not to post pictures of yourself, what prompted that decision?
I do post outfit shots. My other half takes them, but I only let him take photos of outfits I am happy with. I always worry about looking big in my photos, even though I know I am not really that big. We often plan outfit shoots outside in the park or other places and I will always dress up for these and am always happy doing them, I find them fun, and I don't tend to worry when I am doing the photos (just after when I am editing, lol).
5. What would you want every person who struggles with body image to take to heart?
Oh heck. I am useless at inspirational advice. I think I would just say that you just need to learn to be happy with your body the way you are. Learn to dress for your shape, no matter what it is, because dressing to flatter your size will ultimately make you happy and more confident with the way you already are. If you really hate something, then change it, but change it because you want to, not because other people feel you should. Just do what makes you happy!
Gosh that was a bit of heavy one, wasn't it? Ho do you feel about your body image? Is it a touchy subject or are you happy to discuss it?
Has blogging made it easy to accept how you look?

p.s. Some exciting news...we are moving house in July to a bigger place with some friends of ours. It's a big 4 bed maisonette and is lush, so there will be some new backdrops coming in the summer! Yay!

30 for 30 - Day 5 & 6. Plus Bunnies!

So for my disappearing act again, it was another match weekend here in Cardiff which means I was working lots!! I apologise for being slow with my 30 for 30, but I can't do outfits and photos everyday so they will be staggered over the next few weeks. I promise to finish it this time round though. So here is Day 5 and Day 6.
Outfit made up of: 10+11+23+30
10. M&S Limited Collection
11. New Look
23. Dorothy Perkins
30. Unbranded
+
Pocket Watch Necklace from Amie Boutique on Etsy
Ring found in work
So this leopard print top was one of the challenge pieces sent to me by my best friend Heather. I think I nailed a fairly edgy look, and it has changed my opinion of leopard print. You may see some more pieces in my wardrobe soon.
Day 6
Outfit made up of: 2+3+30
2. H&M
3. Primark
30. Unbranded
+
Blue flower hairband from Canada
Mirano Glass Earrings, christmas gift from parents
Vintage brooch from Ebay
This blue flower dress was another challenge piece Heather sent me. It's not my usual style but I kinda like it, and it finally gave me something to pair this vest/tunic/dress thing with (spur of the moment sale buy!)

A few of you who have been reading a while know that I had new baby bunnies when I got back from my Honeymoon in China. And you have been emailing me asking to see some pictures of my little cuties, so here are the first few pictures.

This is Jasper!
This is Delilah!
This is how they like to sleep!
And this is Delilah on her first photoshoot! lol. She stayed still unlike her brother who just kept jumping out of the box! Isn't she cute! Expect to see more photos like this!

How is everyones 30 for 30 going? Any drop out's yet? Anyone struggling or are we all ok?

Friend Friday: Incorporating Colour

Heres another Friend Friday post. As usual you can see all the other ladies who are participating on Modly Chic. This weeks one is nice and easy...Incorporating colour into your wardrobe.

1. What color dominates your closet?
Black and Purple. Definitely

2. If money weren't an issue how would you change the color emphasis
in your closet?
I don't think I would change the colour at all. If money weren't an object I think I would just buy shoes and boots in more colours, so I have then to go with everything

3. What is your mantra about mixing colors?
Anything goes! lol. I will mix anything with anything. As long as you don't try putting too many colours into a single outfit.

4. For you, how do you incorporate color into your outfits?
I am happy to wear bright colours in any way but I like to add colour to a simple outfit using coloured accessories or coloured tights. I love brightly coloured jackets too, they are more interesting than dark ones ones.

5. Which blogger(s) do you think do a good job of incorporating color
into their wardrobe?
Oh loads.
Franca of Oranges and Apples. This lady has the brightest closet I have ever seen and is brave enough to pair any colour together.

Frances Joy of Mad Dress Game has a great knack of adding bright accessories to a simple outfit.

Laura of A Daisy Chain Dream. I envy this girls ever expanding collection of coloured tights.

Lydia of Chic on the Cheap. This girl has a hugely colourful wardrobe and is so chic!

And Liz of 26 and Counting. A recent new find of mine. She has a great way of styling block colour pieces.

So how do you incorporate colour into your wardrobe?
What's your favourite colour to wear?

30 for 30 - Day 4 & Everybody Everywear - The Blazer

So I am gonna have to make this a mega quick post as I am on my way out the door to work, and if I don't sort the post out now (Monday Night) I won't have time before tomorrow. I decided to roll two challenges into one post and use one outfit with just a little difference.

First up my 30 for 30 Day 4 outfit (I apologise for my creased skirt but this was a quick shot taken before packing the outfit and I assure you it was ironed before it was actually worn out of the house)
Outfit made up of: 4+13+22+26
4. I.N.C
13. Nygard Collection
22. F+F
26. TKMaxx
+
Random Leggings
Random Feather and bead necklace
Random Ring
Hair band from Canada
Some pattern mixing as you can see. I have been wanting to pair these 2 items together for a while but just hadn't gotten round to it. I think the strong flower motif on both makes them work well together. Plus I don't own a lot of yellow so think it's great the two piece work with each other. I think I could also do this outfit with a plain white tank top in the summer, when it is a little warmer.

Now for my second part. This months Everybody Everywear item was - The Classic Blazer. I didn't put one in my 30 for 30 - so this doesn't count as a 30 for 30 outfit but I am using the basic items with the blazer. This is how I change my look very simply from casual to business. Drop the cardigan, necklace and bow hairband - pull on a smart black blazer and don my glasses and voila... a chic business look
Blazer - River Island
Brooch - Vintage

This was worn to a business meeting with my new editor.

Ok so thats all, coz if I don't leave now I'm gonna miss my bus.
Hope you like my outfits for both the challenges. What would you pair my skirt or cardigan with? Any suggestions?

China Honeymoon Part 2

Sorry there have been no posts over the weekend. Some of you may know it's been a big match weekend this weekend. With all of the first six nations rugby matches taking place on Friday and Saturday...So that means I have been working long and tiring hours...hence the no posts.
And that also means I haven't worn any outfits either, just work uniform. So today I thought I would bring you some more photos from our China honeymoon. All these photos are from the town of Shuzou. Enjoy

The Grand Canal - Suzhou

The Master of Nets Garden - The smallest walled garden in Suzhou

The General Administrators Garden - The biggest walled garden in Suzhou

The following shots are all Suzhou town by night. It's so beautiful.

See how pretty it all is. Especially at night. So many places are prettier at night in China. They love to light everything up.
