Travel - Barcelona, Casa Batllo

Well here is the second post on our trip to Barcelona. This time I thought I would show you a few pictures of Casa Batllo - One of the houses Gaudi designed in Barcelona. It is a magnificent house! So beautiful and colourful. The whole house is made using curves and hardly any straight lines or surfaces, even the walls are waved. He was said to be inspired by the ocean and marine life when designing this house.
These photos just show you a few of the houses details, they really don't do the house justice, it really has to be seen in person.
 Bannister Knob
The windows of the main room
Ceiling and Light in Living Room
 One of the light wells
 Air vents in attic
 Amazing arched attic corridors
The beautifully tiles chimneys and roof
The tiled front of the building - how amazing is it! It is sometimes also called the House of Bones because the balconies look like skulls and bones, or the House of the Dragon because of the scales ridged roof.

Travel - Barcelona, Park Guell

We have been looking over all our Barcelona images and pulling out our favourite pictures. Of course there are lots and lots of awesome pictures, so I have decided to separate them into the main attractions we saw whilst we were there.

First up is the beautiful Park Guell! I studied Gaudi Architecture as part of my GCSE in Art many years ago and have loved his work ever since. So seeing his work up close in Barcelona was amazing for me. Park Guell is so much bigger and better than you can imagine from any of the images, but here are a selection so you can at least see how amazing the park really is.
 The entrance staircase
Chilling on the famous curved benches
Close up on the eclectic selection of materials used in his mosaic
 Messages left on Cactus leaves
Under one of the archway tunnels
It was insanely hot! We bought fans!
One of the musicians in the park
Entry way building. How amazing is that roof!
 Outfit:
Dress: Matalan (£5 in the sale!)
Pumps: Primark (white on dusty floors - not a good plan!)
Camera: Diana
Typewriter Necklace: Etsy
 All the curved benches
Some of the amazing tiled roof panels - check out the selection of materials used! Spot the teacup and ornament
 Amazing curved archways
One of the walkways, look at the twists in the pillars
View over the city from the park
 The summit!

So what do you think? Has anyone else been to Park Guell, what did you think of it? Would you like to visit Barcelona?

I'll be posting the other attractions soon!
