The Royal Wedding - The Fashion Side

Ok so if you live in the UK you will no doubt have been inundated with Royal Wedding info and photos (and just the general hype!) But I figured I couldn't miss out on all the wonderful fashion!

So first up The Bride: Catherine Middleton - wearing a dress by Sarah Burton for McQueen and jewellery on load from the Queen.
She looked absolutely stunning, understated elegance.

The Bridesmaid: Pippa Middleton - In an Alexander McQueen sheath dress with Cowl neck and stunning button detail on the back - She looked amazing! Need I say more

The Queen - In sunshiny Angela Kelly, I shant comment too much as it's the Queen, lol. But I think the choice of creamy yellow was great and the style is very her, it's what we have come to expect of her.
Camilla Duchess of Cornwall - In Anna Valentine and Philip Treacy hat. She looked lovely. I believe Anna Valentine has been dressing Camilla for a while now so know what works best and this outfit really did. Plus one of a million Philip Treacy hats at the event and I love this one!
Princess Anne - Cannot find who designed her suit but she looks colourful and very summery. It's interesting but not too way out and I think it suits her well.
The Mother of the Bride - Carol Middleton - No idea who her suit is by but she looked classic and elegant and didn't upstage the bride!
Chelsy Davy - Wears Alberta Ferretti skirt and jacket with grey lace hat by Victoria Grant. I am not at all keen on this outfit, it makes her look much older than she is and it seems quite tight on her. She could have chosen something more elegant and classic.
Samantha Cameron - chose a vivid teal sheath dress by Burberry worn with a jewelled hairclip by Erdem. I think she looked sophisticate and eye catching in such a bright colour, but she could have worn a hat or fascinator!
Tara Palmer-Tompkinson - In Deborah Milner Dress, Philip Treacy Hat and Nicholas Kirkwood Shoes. I think the bright blue from head to toe may have been a bit of an over kill. But I think the dress and the shoes look great.
Princess Euginie and Princess Beatrice - Euginie wore Vivienne Westwood and Beatrice wore Valentino suit and Philip Treacy hat. I'm not sure on the Westwood outfit (although she is my God!) but I think Beatrice's suit is beautiful on her, but the hat is a little strange.
Miriam Gonzalez Durantez - No idea who the outfit is by again but it was a brave move. Not sure it really paid off though. I think the whole thing is a little OTT. Love the shoes!!

Victoria Beckham - In a dress of her own, Philip Treacy hat and custom made Louboutins. Well to be honest the dress is dull and un-inspiring. I know she is 6months pregnant but she just looks like she is wearing a sheet of fabric. And I am not understanding all these hats sitting right on the forehead! Plus those shoes are too high!

Of course there were lots more guest and celebrities (1,090 in total I believe) and pictures will no doubt flood ever aspect of the media over the next few days but these are the top few. I shall maybe do another post on the guests later in the week.

So which outfits do you like? Or not like?
And how many hats do you think Philip Treacy can make in 6 months?? He seemed to have done most of the congregation I think! lol

  3. Kate was just so stunning in her dress, it was beautiful :') Pippa looked so nice aswell without overshadowing Kate. I must admit I did like Posh's outift alothugh it wasn't wedding enough for me, a bit too dark. Great post!! xx

  14. This was a great recap of the royal wedding! I didn't watch anything at all, so it was nice to see the outfits here.

I love Cate's wedding dress; I don't understand why her sister wore white too. And as for the rest, well, the hats are quite extravagant, but I guess if there was an appropriate event for them, it was definitely this one, hehe. And Victoria's dress looks dull, but I like the fact that she didn't try to overshadow the bride.

Hope you're having a nice night, friend!

  15. I watched the wedding live on TV all the way from singapore. It was a lovely wedding, it's interesting to watch all the fashion and fanfare. I like the top half of the wedding gown, but maybe the designer could have done a little bit more since it's a royal wedding like a more elaborate train or more design at the bottom.

  17. You know...I had no ideas hats were such a big thing overseas! So as someone that has never really paid attention to the royal fashion scene, the hats were a nice surprise!

  19. There was definitely some over the top fashion at the wedding! that bow hat was by far the craziest.

Luckily, I think Kate gets the award of best dressed at her wedding.

  20. What a great post, thank you so much) Totally agree with you - I loved Kate's dress, as well as Pipa's and Carol's. And I do think that, despite Vivienne Westwood being an amazing, amazing designer, her dresses are not that appropriate for royal wedding. And Beatrice's hat is weird - the first picture I saw was taken from the side, and I couldn't even understand how it's holding on))
