My 7 Wonders of the Fashion Blogging World - Delightfully Tacky

Hello ladies and welcome to my 7 day feature - 'My 7 Wonders of the Fashion Blogging World'.
This extra special feature shall be running everyday this week. My aim is to bring you, my lovely readers, what I believe to be 7 of the most interesting, influential and individual fashion bloggers the internet has to offer.

Here is my first great lady. I have been following her since I first started blogging last September and so enjoy seeing her beautiful outfit shots on a daily basis. Many of you will know her, but hopefully my interview with her will help us all get to know the real her just a little bit better.

So say hello to Delightfully Tacky
What's your name and where do you come from?
Elizabeth, hailing from Anchorage, Alaska.

What's your blog name and why did you name it that?
Delightfully Tacky. It seemed like an apt description for myself and my likes. I have an affinity for kitschy things from bygone decades that other people find tacky.

How long have you been blogging and why did you start?
I've been blogging since July 2008. I started because I didn't have a community of people with similar interests. I had just discovered the world of fashion blogging and it was fascinating to me. I wanted a way to interact with all the amazing bloggers that I was discovering, so I started my own!

What's your everyday job?
I'm currently a graphic artist for a screenprinting/embroidery company. I basically make promotional t-shirt designs for companies/teams/organizations. You could also consider blogging my everyday blog, and it will be my only job once I leave on my RV trip in September.

How would you describe your style?
My style generally has a vintage vibe with a bit of modern flair. My style fluctuates on a daily basis, depending on my mood. Some days I'm feeling more edgy and modern and other days I'm really into more vintage, traditional silhouettes. I do a lot of print mixing, too.

What/who inspires your fashion choices?
Mostly: other fashion bloggers. I am always inspired by the amazing ladies in the blogosphere. I get most of my ideas from seeing how other girls style things. Occasionally I'll get an idea from a designer's campaign or an editorial, but mostly it's street style.

Do you believe in following trends?
I don't really believe in or not believe in following trends. Trends are interesting sometimes, but you have to make sure a trend makes sense for your own style. I'm not going to wear a trend just because other people are, if it makes me feel uncomfortable and silly. But some trends are really fun. I'm not going to turn my nose up at experimenting with styles just because they're trendy.

Where do you stand on high street copy cats of designer pieces?
It's unethical.
Most of you wear vintage items, do you have a favourite type of item you look for or is there a specific era you like?
I like the 70's, 60's and 50's most. Probably all my vintage is from the 70's though. I mostly just love the dresses from those eras. They have much more flattering silhouettes than a lot of modern items, for my body type.

What's the most memorable outfit you have ever worn?
I think the most memorable outfit I've ever worn has been the white vintage dress. I fell in love with it instantly and bought it on a whim off of ebay. Incredibly, it fit me perfectly. I wore it for quite a few big moments, including my Sr. Exhibition art show opening and graduation from college.

Have you ever made a really bad fashion faux paux?
Ages 9-19 were a decade long fashion faux pas. As a kid I would wear sweatpants and baggy t-shirts, and then as a teenager I wore skater shoes, flare jeans and little boy t-shirts religiously. I mean, I guess it would be considered a fashion faux pas, but at the time I didn't really care, it was all about comfort. I didn't have enough self confidence to wear anything else.

Do you have a favourite designer or new emerging designer?
I don't really have a favorite designer. I look to designer fashions for inspiration sometimes, but I like seeing what happens to fashion when it trickles down to the street most. I loved McQueen simply because he taught me a lot about the art of fashion. It's like a mixture of performance art, sculpture, and architecture.

What one items couldn't you live without?
Probably a vintage dress. So comfortable.

Whats your style tip for this season?
For me, summertime is just made for sundresses. Take advantage of the heat to wear flowy, fun dresses.

If you could have any celebrity wardrobe who's would it be and why?
Zooey Deschanel. Hands down. She wears the cutest things. Love that girl.

Who are your favourite bloggers? (if you can send links that would be great too)

What is your favourite Fashion Magazine, and is there a specific reason?
I like Nylon, but it's also the only magazine I have a subscription to...

Is there any models/photographers/clothes store/etsy store/online store (generally aything) you love right now?
Loving LA Vintage, and Bleubird Vintage a lot. I joined Tumblr a couple months ago and I'm getting a lot of inspiration from the photos on my Tumblr (delightfully-tacky.tumblr.com). Vanessa Jackman always has great street style inspiration too...

What one tip would you give to new fashion bloggers now that you have a successful blog?
Write what you care about, enjoy yourself, don't hesitate to contact other bloggers and make friends, and be committed to your blog!

Quick Fire Round
Tea or Coffee? Coffee. Black.
Cupcakes or doughnuts? Krispy Kreme, hot and right off the conveyer belt...
Chocolate ice cream or strawberry? Chocolate.
Cats or Dogs? Dogs
PC or Mac? Mac
Soaps or Reality? Reality
Books or Films? Both, though a film based on a book is never better than the book itself.

Single or Taken? Single
Heels or Flats? Flats
Sweet or Salty? Sweet
