Events - Lunacy Boutique 'Filmology' Fashion Show

London, New York, Paris, Milan...fashion capitals of the world, they all held their fashion weeks over the past month, and now it’s Wales’s turn. Step up Lunacy Boutique, in association with Ty Olwen and Ovacome ( An Ovarian Cancer Charity). This charity event was attended by a 100 strong crowd of fashion conscious ladies and gentlemen all keen to see what the Autumn Winter collections would bring.

Held at The Towers Hotel in Swansea all the guests were treated to a cupcake on arrival and a goodie bag with vouchers for Lara Johnson and Lunacy Boutique itself. Lara Johnson’s team (winner’s of the British Hairdresser of the Year) was also the amazing talent behind all the make up and hairstyles on the models walking the catwalk.

The Lunacy Annual Charity Show, now in it’s 6th year, choses a different theme each year, this years was ‘Filmology’. The show was split in to 4 separate sections, each based on a different film: Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Saturday Night Fever, Kill Bill and Four Weddings and a Funeral. The clothing and jewellery were from the Lunacy Boutiques store in Port Talbot or their online store. The hats and fascinators, which featured in the ‘Four Weddings and a Funeral’ section, were made by Welsh Milliner Kate McKenny. Plus the flowers used were by ‘The Flower Box’ from Forge Road.

This fun packed show was full of music (and props!) from each of the films, and in all honesty was like no other catwalk show I had ever seen before. The models danced their way down the catwalk in styles reminiscent of each of the musical tracks.

The ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’ show was all sugary sweet, with cute bright dresses, girly tops and skirts, sweetie inspired jewellery and candy coloured hair.

The ‘Saturday Night Fever’ show was all about the big hair and bright make up! Think fur jackets, flares and corduroy, and seriously retro print dresses!

‘Kill Bill’ was all sexy and strong. Their harsh hair and make up was reminiscent of Uma Thurman herself. The clothing was bold and eye-catching and the jewellery featured speech bubbles in the style of comic books.

(I want that jumper!)

Finally ‘Four Weddings and a Funeral’ started all depressing and sombre with a show of little black dresses and veiled fascinators and ended on a high or beautiful prom gowns and even a modern wedding dress!

The primary reason for the event was of course to help raise funds and awareness of Ty Olwen Hospice and Ovacome and the research it is involved in. With the sales of the tickets for the event and for the amazing raffle they had (plus for the popcorn that was on sale) I hope I can say that the event was a huge success and helped raise a significant amount of money for the two charities.

Last night was the long anticipated South Wales Bloggers Meet up. And I am so glad to say it went really well. Everyone had a brilliant time (I hope!) and really enjoyed the entire day.
First I would like to say thanks to everyone who came, and helped make it a really great night. I hope you all really enjoyed yourself.

I would like to say thank to all the stores in St David's and outside who contributed to the event, either for the bags or for the event itself, you were all stars and helped make the night a success. Special thanks to the lovely people at Reiss, G-Star Raw, Boux Avenue, La Senza and Kamigata for coming to give talks of their collections and trends.

Thanks to the Laura, Sarah and Hywel of St David's/Golly Slater for doing all the heavy organising of the event. Guys you pulled out all the stops for us! Thank you so much

To O'Neills (I know I work there but still) BB's Muffins and Krispy Kremes thanks for keeping us going throughout the day. The food was all amazing and greatly needed!

Last to Gemma! My partner in crime on this event. Gem you made organising this event a lot less stressful! Thank you so much for everything you did. I think we make a brill event planning team and I look forward to future events! hehe!

Expect to see a few more detailed posts over the weekend about the event, but I just wanted to get this quick thank you out before I leave to go to the Oxfam Boutique event tonight. Anyone else attending?

Baci Lingerie launch their first UK store in Cardiff

Cardiff will soon see the UK's first Baci Lingerie store open in St David's 2.
This brand is now internationally known and is planning to open 50 stores across the UK this year, but Cardiff will be it's first! It will be launching on the 28th October but here is a sneak peek of some of the items they will be stocking.

They say their items are as sexy as Agent Provocateur but at the cost price of Primark - Sounds good to me! I'll be there for the opening me thinks!

So what do you think?
Will you be buying Baci?

Paloma Faith for La Senza

The Amazing Vintage Queen Paloma Faith and the always sexy and stylish La Senza have teamed up to produce a range of 1940's style lingerie and sleepwear in aid of Breast Cancer Research UK.

With 50,000 people being diagnosed ever year with Breast Cancer in the UK, it is now the most common form of cancer, and will effect so many peoples lives. So that being said every penny that can be raised to help fund research for a cure is needed. For every item sold a percentage will be donated to Breast Cancer Research UK.

The line will launch on the 5th October and will be sold in 30 stores across the UK and online. So you better get yours quick if you want some.

And here is a little song from the amazing lady herself.
