Beauty: Mani of the week

Me and Jon were photographing a Charity Ball this week and although it was black and white themed I thought my outfit needed just a little bit of colour and sparkle, so I chose to put it on my nails in the form of Models Own Party Pieces over Collection 2000's Ebony.
I just love this glitter over darker colours to add a bit of sparkle to any outfit or dull day - pity it is such a bugger to get off afterwards!

Has anyone else used this polish? Or any other glitter polishes they would recommend?

Beauty: Mani of the Week

Just a nice quick post for you today ladies. I was digging in my nail varnish pot this week for some inspiration and found my Smash Top Coat. I was wearing a blue dress so looked for a nice deep blue, turned out I didn't have one, other than my magnetized one, so thought what the hell I will have to use that! This is the end result!
I'm rather please with how it turned out. And with my top coat it actually lasted a few days, which is rare for me!
Here is what I used:

Beauty - Mani of the Week

I've really been getting into my nail varnishes these last few months. I wanted something fun and festive for my girly night out before Christmas so I bought myself a few new polishes from Superdrug. This is my first play around with them. The red is a lot more sparkly in real life, it's just you can only see the silver glitter but it is actually covered in red glitter too.

The base red coat is Collection 2000 in Fire Engine
The Red and Silver Glitter Coat is Rimmel London Precious Stones in Ruby Red
The Gold is an intense glitter colour from Collection 2000 Hot Looks in Shimmy Shake

It all looked amazing when it was done and the coverage of all of the varnishes was good. The red base only needed one coat as the colour was pretty intense, the gold needed 2 but looked really shiny afterwards. Sadly the red chipped within 2 days. I didn't add a top coat so it could be my fault, but the red base is meant to be long lasting for upto 10 days so I expected more really. But I got lots of comments about how lovely they were on my night out as the shimmered lots!

Beauty - Mani of the Week

Here is the mani I have been sporting the last few days! I love a bit of polka dots, so polka dot nails seemed like a good idea. I hadn't tried doing spots before so it was a bit of trial and error to see what worked for me. I know you can buy dotting tolls now, but I wasn't going to spend money if I could manage it another way for free. I ended up using the back of an old makeup brush

Now I'm no nail varnish snob and like my cheap and cheerful Collection 2000 Hot Looks varnish personally. I usually only wear varnish for 2-3 days at a time (unless they have mega staying power, which is rare!) so lasting power isn't really much of an issue. I find you do need 2 coats with most of their colours, but I have never hand an issue applying it, and I love the fun selection of colours and the cheap £1.79 price!

Both the varnishes I used for this mani are Collection 2000, I actually bought them together last year, specifically to wear them together like this, which I have done a number of times. I don't think either are still available for sale in store, as the range changes so quickly, but you may be able to find them or similar online, if you wanted too.
Base Colour: Colection 2000 Mint Mojo
Spots: Collection 2000 Ninja
I hope you like. What other colour combo would you suggest for polka dots? As I think I like spotty nails!

Beauty - Mani of the Week

Seeing as my little Beauty Guest Post from Makeup Pixie went down so well last week I thought I could bring your a few more beauty posts. Today is a quick mani of the week. I wore it for the John Lewis Press Event. I'm not usually a pink person, but I do like a pop of pink on my nails sometimes!
Here is the base colour I applied - Nails Inc Eccleston Mews #509
And then I applied a smash glaze effect on top
Collection 2000 - Nail Smash in White Smash #2
I still really like the cracked effect that was so popular this summer. Although I rather the black version I had from Barry M it dried up within a month, even though it was properly sealed. This white from Collection 2000 on the other hand has been used so many time this summer and is still perfectly fine. Shows that expensive polish is no better than cheap sometimes!

What polish are you into at the moment?
