Beauty Review / Mani of the Week - Revlon Moon Candy Nail Art in Meteor

I picked up the Revlon Moon Candy Nail Art Varnish after seeing one of the others in this new line on Georgina from Make-up Pixi3 at a recent event. The glittery top coat just looked so fun and shiny, without actually looking like a glitter. It is more like holographic flakes. Georgina had the navy blue - Galactic - version but I really loved this almost dirty earthy deep green - Meteor - version so I picked it up in Superdrug for £5.99 on offer, it is now back up to £7.99, sorry :-(
Now I will say right off the bat I wasn't too impressed with how thick the base colour was, it was almost sticky in consistency. So I didn't find it applied that well, although coverage was good it didn't have a smooth finish, as you can see!
But the colour is really cool, a really deep earthy green just as I had hoped. It took a while to dry though, due to it's thickness. This is after 2 coats as I tried to even out the strokes and surface to make it smoother.
Then you apply the flaky top coat and this is the final outcome! Again not that easy to apply as the flakes kinda clumped together to start with but after a bit of fiddling I eventually got them to spread nicely. And I was really please with the final look, the overall look changes depending on how the light hits the nails (hence the 2 ever so slightly different pictures above and below!)
On the durability front it actually lasted really well! I didn't put a top coat on, and didn't get a chip until about 3-4 days in, which is pretty good in my books. Warning though it is a bugger to get off! lol!
So there you have it, a little review and mani from last week. Have you tried any of these Moon Candy varnishes? What is your opinion?

Outfit Post - Rocky Horror Picture Show!

A few of you guessed from my little Haul Video that I was off to see the Rocky Horror Show when it came to Cardiff recently. I saw it a few years ago for the first time and when I noticed it was coming to Cardiff again I simply had to get tickets (8 tickets as it turned out!) It is awesome and so unbelievably funny!!

So here is a little (fancy dress) outfit post from the show!
Me and my sis in our costumes!
 Quick close up!
And one just before the show starts, with Fi and Laura who also came with us.

Has anyone else seen The Rocky Horror Show? What did you think of it?

Sunday Catch-up - 21st July

Well last weeks sunday catch-up was a little different with the haul vlog (if you haven't seen it yet it is here) but this week I am back to my usually instagram led posts. So here is what I have been up to this last week.
 1. Thursday was the hubby's 26th birthday and he decided he wanted to go to TGI Friday's for his birthday meal.
2. Jon enjoying his ribs!
3. I may never have told you all but I am a bit of a stamp geek, so this is my newest set of First Day Covers
4. And as a stamp geek I love mail!! So this is my latest letter from my penpal Annica and a Postcard
Lots of food pictures as usual! These are 2 meals out!
1+2. Seignior Valentino's before the theatre - Garlic mushrooms and amazing salmon and tomato pasta
3+4. TGI's mixed starters and my sticky BBQ ribs
 How cooked meals
1. Maggi's sticky BBQ chicken, with mash and garlic bread
2. Home made chilli
3. Lamb and Sweet Potato stew with Pasta
4. Pork Chops in Creamy Cider Sauce with potato and sweet potato mash

I am still chugging along reading this little number, although it feels like I have been reading it forever. 700+ pages can be a little hard going, but I am enjoying it and really want to get to the end of it to find out what happened.
It has been so so hot in Wales recently and the poor little boy is struggling, so he has taken to sleeping and napping on the downstairs toilet and the bathroom floor where the tiles are a bit cooler.

Warning graphic image below which may gross you out!!!
Yes ladies if you have been following me on twitter (@daisydayz25) you will know I had a bit of an ordeal at the dentist this week. I went in for 2 scheduled root canals, one either side, but ended up having 1 root canal and 1 rather troublesome extraction. The picture is of the 2 pieces of root my dentist spent 30 minutes digging out of my gum/jaw! She had to cut the tooth into pieces and take them out separately because the roots were so deep. Put it this way it was very uncomfortable and my face is still aching almost a week on! Not a fun week really!

Links and Love for this week!
1. I have fallen in love with a blog called LiveLoveDIY and her amazing home! I will be using some of her techniques and design ideas when decorating our own home one day.
2. I'm a little bit in love with this ASOS Skirt
3. I have a new cookery blog with my mum - Eat Cook Review - that I would love for you all to check out, only 3 recipes so far though!
4. Our latest shoot is up on the website and it is really adorable, look for the Smash the Cake Gallery
5. You can see my latest article for The Bay Magazine here - all about shoes!!

Beauty: Mani of the Week

Just a nice quick post for you today ladies. I was digging in my nail varnish pot this week for some inspiration and found my Smash Top Coat. I was wearing a blue dress so looked for a nice deep blue, turned out I didn't have one, other than my magnetized one, so thought what the hell I will have to use that! This is the end result!
I'm rather please with how it turned out. And with my top coat it actually lasted a few days, which is rare for me!
Here is what I used:

Beauty Review - L'Occitane

I was lucky enough to be sent these two amazing items by L'Occitane last week so I could try them and review them for you guys on here. I was super happy to receive them as Cardiff has had a L'Occitane for ages, but I have never had the guts to fork out for any items as they are quite expensive and I really didn't know much about them. I am happy to pay a higher amount for an item as long as I know it is worth it (like my love of Crabtree & Evelyn Avocado Hand Cream!)

I (and my Mum) have spent the last few days trying these out and this is what I think
Almond Firming and Beautifying Milk Veil £28
Now this is an item that would usually be a little out of my budget, £28 for a body lotion is a lot for me, especially if I haven't tried the item before and don't know whether it is worth it, so I love that I got the chance to try this item. And I will tell you right now, I loved it! And once I have used every last tiny drop I can get out of the bottle I will be purchasing another!

The milk veil has a very thin consistence, so is quite runny when pumped out of the bottle unlike most other body creams I have used, but it absorbs well into the skin and it isn't too thin that it takes a lot, it actually spreads really well, so doesn't take much to do your whole body. It left my skin feeling very soft and smooth. The smell is totally yummy! All creamy and milky smelling (like you would expect!)

Now one of the main things about it, that you will either love or hate, is that it is extremely shimmery. It has tiny tiny grains of glitter to make your skin all shiny and reflective. I personally love the glittery look to it, but I know that this has been the main down point for some people who have reviewed it in the past.

I definitely think it is worth the cost as it left my skin so soft and I really liked the shimmery look it left me with, I just kept spotting bits of glitter on my hands and arms all through the day. I might not use it as my everyday lotion due to the price but I will use it regularly.

I love the smell of anything with almonds in, so when I received this I was so please about the rich almond scent it had. I was a little sceptical about the fact it was an oil rather than a gel, so wasn't convinced that it would lather like a regular shower wash. But I am happy to report it lathered just as well as any normal shower wash! And it only takes a really small amount to create enough lather to wash your whole body, so a little goes a long way!
I can't say it had a huge effect on my skin, as in it didn't feel softer or anything, but I'm not sure many shower washes do, as long as they clean you and smell good nothing else really matters.

Overall I would say I really liked both the items I tried and I will be looking to buy and test a few more in the future.

Note: although I was sent these items to try all thoughts and opinions are my own

Outfit Post - New Shoes curtesy of Shoe Zone

Shoe Zone offered to send me a pair of their new summer wedges to style up last week, so I chose the great floral wedge sling backs and was really excited when they arrived, I knew they would be great to style up for the summer months.

So their first outing was to the Aberavon Beach fair last weekend and I paired them with a colourful patterned maxi dress. I will say though that the shoes are sized a little small, I originally was sent the 7's as that is what I wear most of the time, but had to return them for the 8's. So go a size bigger if you plan to order from Shoe Zone online at any time. But the shoes are really pretty, seem well made and are surprisingly comfy. I have issues with sling backs falling down at the back but hopefully after I have worn them a few times they will have moulded to my feet and will stay on! I shall get back to you on the quality of them when I have worn them a few more times, but for £12.99 (in sale at the mo for £6.49) they seem pretty good so far.
Shoes: c/o Shoe Zone (only £6.49 in the sale)
Necklace: Forever 21 from Gemma
Bag: TKMaxx
